Peeps!

'The Bear's Ears' overlooking the station
Things are going great here in 'da Gulch' as I've begun to think of it. Ranger Laura and her partner Scott are just the best people and have been doing this for almost 25 years; Man, can they tell some stories!?! And I'm working with a really nice bunch of volunteers - mostly grey-haired retirees - from all over the country.

Karen and Gary

It can be quite busy some times but it's a nice kind of busy. It's one of those situations where everyone seems like kindred spirits in our interest and shared love of this high desert mesa and the thousands of ancient archeo-sites needing protection.

It will come as no surprise that there's been a lot of angst due to "Sequestration" but we all try to stay out it and just enjoy the days we have here. Each of us are provided with our own trailer complete with comfy bed, kitchen, toilet and shower and best of all...HEAT! which is kind of nice since the mornings are still starting off in the 20's.

My Shangrila

Like I said, it's been great working here with folks so like-minded and passionate about educating the public to help save what we can, while we can. And oddly enough, most visitors coming here are also committed to walking lightly and respecting this still-as-yet-unknown wilderness area. I think I've found my PEEPS!
